5 Summer Shoe Tips: Heat and high heels
Summer heat and high heels can be a killer combination - and not in a cool way! But here's our summer shoe tips to help you out! Maybe we don't exactly suffer under crazy heat waves at the moment here in Denmark (even though it wouldn't hurt if the weather gods would send us a bit of sunshine - hint, hint!), but we know that so many of you ladies live in warmer countries and struggle with your heels under the heat. So what can you do to prevent the unwanted sweating and sliding around all day in your shoes and stay classy throughout the day?
1. Baby powder magic
This is a summer heat must - the good old baby powder! Baby powder seriously works magic - it absorbs sweat, prevents sliding and keeps your feet fresh. Apply it all over your feet including in between toes and let it stick to your skin. It's also important to apply it inside of the shoe on the sole and the sides - just make sure you place tissues on the top of your heels to protect the leather from the powder. Ideally, you'd do this every 3 hours in the high heat, but well, that might be tricky! Applying it every now and then, when you have a moment, is just fine!
2. Let them dry It's important to allow your shoes to dry thoroughly before wearing them again. Don't wear the same shoes every day; give them a chance to air out. It's good to let them get some air for 24h rather than putting them on the shelves or in the boxes immediately after you get home.
3. Good deodorant
This tip obviously applies to all seasons, but it's important to spray your feet with deodorant particularly in summer time before you put your favorite heels on. The best one to use is a deodorant made specifically for feet, but if you can't get hold of one, any other you might have in your bag will do as well.
4. Double-sided tape
To be extra sure you won't slide in your heels at an important event, it's good to buy some double-sided paper tape. Paste it around the bottom and sides of the shoes to secure your feet and you're ready to dance!
5. Walk them out
Last but not least, it's always good to walk your shoes out for a few days before you go to an event or an occasion where you'll use them all day or night. Heat or no heat, the best thing you can do for your feet is to wear soft heels adjusted to your foot anatomy. roccamore ♥
