SHOE CARE GUIDES

Roccamore shoes are handmade by some of the most skilled, knowledgeable and talented shoemakers in the world. They are made by hand and/or by human-operated machines. The finishing processes are carried out 100% by hand.

We do not recommend cycling or driving when wearing your roccamores as they may be damaged.
Shoemakers can repair most common damages, but be extra careful not to scratch the material as it is unique and can be almost impossible to repair.

I'M NOT PERFECT. I'M HANDMADE.

Roccamore shoes are handmade by some of the most skillful, knowledgeable, and talented shoemakers in the world. They are put together completely by hand, and/or by human-operated machinery. The finishing processes are done 100% by hand.

Unlike many mass-produced brands, roccamore shoes are not covered with heavy coatings, which often contain plastic to give the shoes an artificially-perfect finish.

The fact that our shoes are made by hand in natural materials means there can be tiny imperfections, which in no way harm the quality or wearability of the shoes. These imperfections are not defects, but rather a reminder that the shoes are produced by hand and with integrity.

If you believe there is an imperfection which prevents you from wearing, enjoying, or loving the heels - please submit a claim HERE.

WHEN TO USE PROTECTIVE SPRAY

We recommend spraying your leather or suede shoes with the roccamore shoe protector all over the outer surface, for full protection. You can also use any other brand of suede/leather combination spray. Spray the shoes from 20cm distance, as straight and evenly as possible. Let them dry for at least 12 hours. Repeat once a month for optimal protection.

DO NOT USE SPRAY ON our metallic (gold or silver) models. The chemicals inside the spray can react negatively with the lamination of the leather and cause damage.

DO NOT USE SPRAY ON our nubuck leather shoes.

You do not need to use a protective spray on roccamore shoes made with glitter or pony hair leather. It will not damage them, but it will not protect them either.

ADVICE FOR ALL SHOES

Keep your shoes away from excessive heat, rain, snow, sleet, hail, and other liquid hazards. Should that happen, allow them to dry out naturally. Don't ever put them close to the radiator, as it may melt the glue and ruin the shoes.

If the soles wear out or get damaged, they can be repaired by a shoemaker. For good maintenance, we recommend doing that at the first signs of serious wear and tear, as repairs are easier and more effective before the damage gets too heavy.

Roccamore heels are covered in various materials; whether it is the same soft leather or suede used to make the entire shoe, or has special details such as lacquered plastic, or patent leather; we use the highest quality materials. Despite using the best materials, our heels are still delicate and should be treated with extra care. Therefore, we do not recommend biking or driving in your roccamores. If you do, please be mindful of the heels, as they may get scratched. If this happens, they can usually be repaired by a shoemaker.

HOW TO STORE YOUR SHOES

Leather needs to breathe. Give your shoes a 24h dry-timeout once a week, especially if you wear them daily. Otherwise, the leather can harden and may start to smell.

Store your leather shoes in a cool, dry place. Cold air kills odour, so you can leave your shoes out for a fresher experience, when possible.Never store your shoes in a plastic bag or box; as they can stiffen when leather is not able to breathe.

FOR SUEDE

We recommend spraying your suede shoes with any shoe protector spray all available at roccamore.com, our stores or most shoemakers. Spray the shoes from 20cm distance, as straight and evenly as possible. Let them dry for at least 12 hours and repeat once a month for optimal protection.

You can use a suede brush to maintain your shoes, but be very gentle and only use it on the surface.

Use a microfiber cloth without any washing liquids or water on it, to clean the material from any dirt or dust.

Suede is a natural material and will adapt to your use of it and shape around your feet.

FOR NAPPA LEATHER

We recommend spraying your nappa leather shoes with any shoe protector spray all available at roccamore.com, our stores or most shoemakers. Spray the shoes from 20 cm distance, as straight and evenly as possible. Let them dry for at least 12 hours and repeat once a month for optimal protection.

To clean, use a damp cloth without any washing liquids. Clean with light swiping motions.

You can use a neutral wax care product for nappa and calfskin shoes, to add a nice shine and keep the leather soft.

Nappa leather is a natural material and will adapt to your use of it and shape around your feet.

FOR METALLIC LEATHER

Do not use any spray on our metallic (gold or silver) models. The chemicals inside the spray will react negatively with the lamination of the leather and can cause irreversible damage.

Do not use a polishing wax on our metallic leather shoes.

To clean, use a damp cloth without any washing liquids. Clean with light swiping motions.

FOR PONY HAIR LEATHER

Pony hair leather is made out of cow skin, not actual ponies. The name comes from using the side of the hide that has hair, whereas most leather is made from the non-hair side.

Do not use a polishing wax on our pony hair leather shoes.

The pony hair protects the underlying leather, but we still recommend keeping them out of rain or excessive moisture.

To clean, use a damp cloth without any washing liquids. Use a light swiping motion in the direction of the hair.

If you wish, you can brush the pony hair VERY lightly with a gentle comb in the direction of the hair. Pony hair is a natural material and will adapt to your use of it.

FOR PATENT LEATHER

Do not use any sprays or polishing waxes on our patent leather shoes.

To clean, use a damp cloth without any washing liquids. Clean with light swiping motions.

Store them carefully, with plenty of space around them, as the patent leather may deform if pressured for a long time.

FOR NUBUCK LEATHER

You can use a special nano spray for nubuck leather. Do not use the roccamore shoe protector spray, as it is not specialised for this material. Do not use shoe wax products, as they can stain the leather.

To clean, use a rubber brush. Clean with light swiping motions, all in the same direction.

Nubuck leather is a natural material and will adapt to your use of it and shape around your feet.

FOR GLITTER

You do not need to use a protective spray on our glitter shoes.

Do not use a polishing wax on our glitter shoes.

The glitter will cover and protect the underlying leather, but we still recommend keeping them out of rain or excessive moisture.

While the glitter is securely adhered to the underlying leather, bumping our glitter shoes against hard edges or sharp objects will cause damage to the glitter.

FOR WATER-RESISTANT MATERIALS

The anna winter boots, the bella boots and anniken grey are all handcrafted from high quality split suede. They come with special protective coating, which makes them water-resistant. Therefore, they do not need extra protection. Do not use the roccamore shoe protector spray, or any other spray or protective treatment. Do not use shoe wax or other polishing products.

To clean, use a rubber brush (only soft rubber, not a regular suede brush). Clean with light swiping motions, with absolutely no cleaning liquid/detergent.

Do not keep your boots wet for a long time, as it may stain the leather. After contact with water, leave the boots to dry in a warm and well-ventilated place. Do not dry them near a source of heat, such as a radiator or a fireplace.

FOR MARY REY

Due to the natural leather used for Mary Rey, you may see some evidence of the chemical-free treatment from the final step of production. This treatment contains salt, which under certain circumstances can become too dry, causing it to appear white.

If you see white marks on your shoes, this is not considered a defect and can be resolved by using a damp microfiber cloth to gently wipe them off. Do not use washing liquids, just a tiny bit of water. In time and with wear, the white traces will disappear completely.

FOR VELVET

To clean, use a damp cloth without any washing liquids. Clean with light swiping motions. Please do not use any protective sprays or polishing waxes on our velvet shoes.

Store them carefully, with plenty of space around them, as the velvet may deform if pressured for a long time.

FOR CROC LEATHER

We recommend applying natural wax to your croc shoes and using a normal shoe brush.

It can be the same color as the leather or a neutral-colored wax.

The wax is applied with circular movements until the material is no longer matte and shines.

FOR SNEAKERBOOTS

For the Zarah model in Nubuck applies:
You can use a special nano spray for Nubuck leather.

Do not use the roccamore shoe protector spray as it is not specialized for this material. Do not use shoe wax products as they can stain the leather.

Use a rubber brush for cleaning. Clean with light stroking movements, all in the same direction.

Nubuck leather is a natural material and will adapt to your use of it and mold around your feet.

For the Maren model in leather applies:
We recommend spraying your leather shoes with roccamore shoe protection spray over the entire outer surface for full protection. You can also use any other brand of suede/leather combination spray.

Spray the shoes from a distance of 20 cm, as straight and evenly as possible.

Let them dry for at least 12 hours. Repeat once a month for optimal protection.

For the Racva model in leather applies:
To care for knitted polyamide mesh sneakers, we recommend cleaning them with a damp cloth.

Do not put the shoes in the washing machine.

Polyamide absorbs almost no moisture and therefore dries very quickly.

For sneaker soles:
We recommend cleaning the soles with a small brush, such as a toothbrush. Then wipe with a soft, hard heated sponge with water.

FOR STUDS

We recommend impregnating the leather and suede, but avoid the studs as the metal can react to the spray. If you do get a bit on them, they can easily be wiped off.
